Summer Elegance at Cripps Barn Cotswolds Wedding

Capturing Annabel and Murray’s early July wedding at Cripps Barn in the Cotswolds was an opportunity I’d leap at any day. The charm of Cripps Barn never fades, no matter how many times I return. The day greeted us with a flawless sky, painted in deep blues, dotted with the occasional fluffy cloud—a perfect setting for a summer celebration.

My day began with Annabel, surrounded by the warmth of her family and bridesmaids at a quaint local accommodation. The atmosphere was light and joyful, anticipation and excitement mingling in the air as hair was styled and makeup applied. Annabel’s choice of an elegant Halfpenny London dress, adorned with delicate lace arms, was a vision. The moments captured of her mother assisting with the veil and her father's first look at her in the dress were definitely some of my favourites from the day.

Arriving at Cripps Barn, I was greeted by Murray and his groomsmen, all donning classic Scottish kilts, added a vibrant half Scottish / half English flavour to the celebration.  The barn, renowned for its rustic allure, was transformed by spectacular floral displays from Go Wild Flowers, setting a vibrant backdrop for the ceremony. Annabel’s walk down the aisle, her father by her side and Murray awaiting with his best man’s supportive hand on his shoulder were a fab moment.  Following the ceremony, the confetti throw led Annabel and Murray to their Land Rover, marking their brief departure amidst the rattling cans and cheers from loved ones.

The drinks reception unfolded on the lawn of this stunning Cotswolds venue, where guests mingled and laughed, their glasses catching the golden light of a perfect summer day. The air was alive with the joyous shrieks of nieces and nephews, their faces lit with ecstasy as they darted through dappled shadows of the trees above.. The couple's photoshoot among the vibrant floral displays was a highlight, framing them perfectly as they got close.

As the evening approached, the grand entrance of Annabel and Murray, led by a bagpipe player, was a scene of jubilation. The dinner was punctuated with speeches that brought laughter and warmth, with Annabel’s grandfather stealing the show with his charismatic presence.

The evening's festivities began with a ceilidh dance, infusing the event with Scottish flair despite its English location. A few songs in, I took the opportunity for a private moment with the newlyweds against the stunning backdrop of the setting sun, capturing those unique, golden-hour photography is always a treat.

As we moved indoors, the first dance unfolded with Murray sweeping Annabel off her feet, amidst the jubilant cheers of their guests—this moment became my favourite capture of the day. The celebration's climax was a whirlwind of joy: ties repurposed as headbands, hands waving in the air, women twirling, and the bride and groom basking in the euphoria. This Cotswolds wedding was truly unforgettable.

I hope you enjoy Annabel & Murray’s Cripps Barn wedding in the Cotswolds as much as I did photographing it! I encourage you to also explore Laura & Chris' charming barn wedding in Hampshire, or perhaps venture into the romantic allure of Hannah & Noam's destination wedding in France, where the vibrancy and spirit certainly parallels.
