From Bridport to Bournemouth

A Dorset Wedding Photographer

I can now very much say the home of the Jurassic coast is very much my home

I’m happy to say that I am a Dorset wedding photographer, I would have probably never have decided on living in Dorset before I eventually got persuaded but it’s definitely funny how life brings new opportunities, I can now very much say the home of the Jurassic coast is very much my home and even though it has had its ups and downs at times I do find a sense of peace and a feeling of home in Bournemouth and the surrounding countryside.

I often get asked by couples to meet me before their wedding and my answer is always the same “Come to Dorset for the weekend and you won’t regret it” I recently purchased a flat in a place called Westbourne and have been busy renovating it back to its former glory. It’s definitely a learning curve with some of the DIY but it’s a fun one at that! I’m definitely better with a camera in my hand than a hammer!

As a Dorset wedding photographer I’ve photographed at some incredible locations throughout the county, they’re some fantastic venues for every type of wedding! On the west side of the county you’ll find Pennsylvania Castle on the Isle of Portland a stunning Gothic mansion with sea views, traveling further east down the coast you’ll find the splendid Lulworth Castle a short distance from two of the most beautiful views in Dorset, Lulworth Cove & Durdledoor (google and you’ll see what I mean!)

If it’s more a barn wedding you’re after then you’ll love Gorwell Farm, a beautifully converted barn nestled in a secluded valley so you can party the night away without disturbing anyone! Or if you’re after a more stately wedding then either Kingston Maurward or St Giles House would be a great choice as they’re both stunning examples of period houses with plenty of photo opportunities around the grounds.

After a more festival style wedding? then Larmer Tree (where ‘end of the festival’ is held) or Wilkswood near Swanage would be perfect to pitch up the tents and party hard into the night! Finally traveling to the east of the county there are lots of options from a Bournemouth beach wedding to a relaxed wedding at Sopley Mill a disused watermill by the river Avon or even Highcliffe Castle a grade one listed cliff-top mansion near Christchurch and the New Forest!

How do we book you?

Firstly get in touch and check my availability for your date.  If I’m available then all you will need to do is pay a 20% non-refundable deposit and fill out an online wedding agreement. This will guarantee that no else gets me for your date. The remainder can be paid off at any point up to one month until the wedding day.

How many images do we get?

You’ll get around 500-600 individually edited colour photographs. I also convert a load of images in black and white so you will have a good mixture.

How long will it take to receive our photographs?

You’ll receive a preview gallery within roughly a week of the wedding.  The average editing time is around 6 weeks for the full set, this depends on the time of year through, peak wedding season is between April-September.  There’s only one of me but I know how keen you’ll be to see your pictures, so I’ll get them done and ready for you as quickly as possible, without compromising on the quality.

Can we buy prints?

Yes, you’ll receive an online gallery where you or your family and friends can not only view the wedding photographs but also buy prints, frames and wedding albums.

How long do you stay on a wedding day?

On average I usually stay around 12 hours but it all depends on the wedding,  but rest assured I’ll be there for as long as I need on the day – or in other words, from when you’re getting ready to when you’re telling everyone you love them on the dance floor!

Do you require food on the wedding day?

It would be amazing to eat at the same point as the rest of the wedding guests, photographs of people eating are never the most flattering so I try to eat quickly at the same time.

Can we meet you before the wedding?

Yes, I love to meet all couples before their wedding top go through all the details of the day.  I presume if you’re getting married in Dorset then you either live here or will be coming down more to check out the venue so please let me know and we can arrange to meet up over coffee.

If you're already booked for our date can you refer me to some different photographers?

Absolutely, I’m not the only Dorset wedding photographer so will try and get you a few names of similars photographers who will be free.

"He made us feel so comfortable and captured the day perfectly"

Sarah & Cam

We were drawn to Richards reportage style and colourful images when choosing a Dorset wedding photographer. I knew the photos would be good; we had done our research and the man clearly knew what he was doing but when we received the final photos we were just overwhelmed. He made us feel so comfortable and captured the day perfectly, we were so thrilled with the images.
